First female 'Top Gun' pilot's message soars at SEPC Southern Roots Luncheon

vidwithout HOLLYWOOD, FL -- Lt. Carey Lohrenz made history as the first fully qualified female Navy aviator to fly the F-14 Tomcat fighter in the United States military, earning her wings in 1993 and reporting for duty to Naval Air Station Miramar, CA -- "Top Gun." Her message about striving for and achieving success in a male-dominated arena made her a tailor-made choice to deliver the keynote address at the 2016 Southeast Produce Council Southern Roots Luncheon, part of Southern Exposure 2016 for the second year.

Southern Roots is a leadership program, chaired by SEPC 1st Vice President Teri Miller of Delhaize America and designed to make meaningful connections among women working in the produce industry through events, education and mentoring.

Lohrenz' message resonated with attendees. Maggie Giuffrida talks with Lohrenz about her achievements -- and with industry leaders about the impact of her words and how they relate to the experiences of women in the produce industry as our SEPC video series continues.

Look for more next week from the Tom Page Golf Classic, the tradeshow floor and, of course, the social side of Southern Exposure.
