Pinkston joins Sunny Valley

Produce industry veteran Steve Pinkston has joined Sunny Valley International as director of business development.Steve-Pinkston

Pinkston, who started with the Glassboro, NJ-headquartered company on April 16, will be working from North Carolina. His primary responsibility will be to “build and strengthen Sunny Valley’s business in the eastern United States,” he told The Produce News Wednesday, April 25.

Pinkston, 63, was with Walmart from 1994 to March 2018, where most recently he was senior sourcing manager for global produce sourcing. Prior to that, he spent about 18 years with Food Lion. He also serves as vice chairman of the Southeast Produce Council’s board of directors.

“I’m very excited to stay in the produce industry and to be part of the Sunny Valley team,” he said.

Sunny Valley International is a major supplier of imported and domestic fresh fruits to markets throughout North America. The company handles an extensive line of produce but is perhaps best known for Eastern peaches as well as domestic and imported blueberries.
