Peak of the Market bolsters staff with two new hires

Duane Hood has joined Peak of the Market as the company's Calgary distribution center manager. The company also hired Bethany Alards as quality control manager.

Hood comes to Peak of the Market with more than 25 years of warehouse, logistics and distribution management experience. Her career includes leading teams of four to 60 staff at warehouses, including Eleven Points Logistics (Target), Ultralite Doors and Coca-Cola.

Peak of the Market said that Hood has also worked with a number of warehouse management software programs, including AS400, SAP, Manhattan, WMS and Accpacc.

Alards brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in quality control and quality assurance that has been gained in various roles in meat, bread, and cheese production and processing facilities. She has implemented food safety programs (HACCP, BRC, CFIA) applicable to these sectors, and has developed quality monitoring procedures within production facilities to improve efficiencies while meeting product quality and customer specifications.

She has a keen interest in a hands-on approach to production and quality, which will serve her well as she works closely with all departments within Peak of the Market, and growers, to ensure they are meeting and exceeding their commitment to providing top-quality potatoes and vegetables to our customers.

Alards has a bachelor's degree in food science from the University of Manitoba and a culinary arts diploma from Red River College.
