Chef Andrew Zimmern to keynote FP&FC’s SoCal Expo

Andrew Zimmern, culinary expert, American television personality, chef, food writer and teacher, will present the keynote address at the Fresh Produce & Floral Council’s Southern California Expo July 17 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA.

ANDREW-ZIMMERNChef Andrew Zimmern will keynote the FP&FC SoCal Expo July 17.Zimmern is the co-creator, host, and consulting producer of the Travel Channel series, “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern,” “Bizarre Foods America,” “Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre World,” and “Bizarre Foods: Delicious Destinations.” For his work on “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern” he was presented the James Beard Foundation Award in 2010 and another in 2013.

Hundreds of suppliers will showcase their latest products and upcoming promotions during the one-day event. Under the banner “Put More on Your Plate” there will be some changes to the expo program from past years.

“There will be no design contest this year,” Carissa Mace, FPFC’s president, told The Produce News. “Instead, there will be two seminars, one in the morning related to produce and one in the afternoon for floral by René van Rems.”

The floral seminar is entitled “The Business of Creativity and Style” and van Rems will “take you on a floral design tour showcasing flowers, foliage, botanicals and design styles as they pertain to the business of selling flowers,” according to a news release. The program will also feature the newest varieties of flowers and foliage on the market and promises to “inspire you to continue to work on the artistic side while employing the principles of business.”

General registration for the Southern California Expo begins at 7 a.m. and the exhibition floor will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
