Smithers-Oasis enters purchase agreement with Milton Adler Co.

Smithers-Oasis Co. has entered into a purchase agreement with Milton Adler Co. of Atlantic City, NJ, a longtime manufacturer and supplier to the floral industry, effective immediately. With this purchase, Smithers-Oasis continues to add to its wedding and seasonal gift items, according to a news release.

The succession plan allows for a seamless transition of Milton Adler products and services including Atlantic, Stemson’s and Miss Petite brands. The Milton Adler management team will also be retained during transition.

“Smithers-Oasis and Milton Adler Co. share a rich and long history in the floral business,” said Anne Stewart, vice president, North American Floral Operations, Smithers-Oasis, in the release.

“By adding Milton Adler’s quality products to the Smithers-Oasis family of brands we are building on our competency in wedding and gifting categories to be increasingly valuable to our customers,” she said.

Milton M. Adler, who began manufacturing hatpins in his Atlantic City, NJ home, founded Milton Adler Co. in 1929. It quickly became fashionable to use the pearl-headed pin to attach flowers to clothes, and so the corsage pin was invented. For three generations, Milton Adler Co. supplied the wholesale florist trade basic hard goods such as corsage pins, wristlets and waterproof tapes, and also acquired brands such as Stemson’s and Primer Sidell.

“I am proud of my grandfather and father’s dedication and innovation in the floral industry,” said Jason Adler, president of Milton Adler Co., in the release.

“I know their legacy is cared for by a company that has been a leader in the industry and respected among customers for decades,” he continued. “I am confident customers will be pleased with the service, quality and innovation that will continue for Milton Adler products through Smithers-Oasis.”

New product innovation will continue under Smithers-Oasis to provide the industry cost and laborsaving products relevant to current trends.

This transaction adds more than 200 products to the Smithers-Oasis offering and represents a unique opportunity to add a highly complementary product line that positions the company to further capitalize on its operational strengths.

“Consolidated ordering of these multiple brands across the United States and Canada gives additional confidence in product delivery,” concluded Stewart.
