How can you stand out from the crowd?

Today’s consumers have a multitude of choices when buying floral products. Traditional brick-and-mortal retail shops, big box stores, online retailers, street corner vendors and supermarket floral centers are all competing for their business. So how can you stand out and attract more customers? Having the right product mix, fresh quality, high-perceived value, and a “friendly smile in every aisle” (thanks, Hy-Vee) will give you an edge over your competition.

In this edition we introduce some houseplant ideas from Costa Farms for capturing needed summer sales; we recap Mother’s Day; we report on the growth of the Memorial Day Flowers Foundation program; and we preview CalFlowers Fun ‘N Sun, PMA Fresh Connections: Floral Miami, FPFC SoCal Expo, the SAF Annual Convention and other industry events, which could all offer you more tips for increasing your competitive edge.

As summer is officially now in full swing, I hope you take some time to recuperate from your busy spring holiday season and I wish you all a very happy Fourth of July.
Next month we’ll have on-the-scene coverage of the International Floriculture Expo.
