‘Supermaket Guru’ Phil Lempert to keynote at IFE in Chicago in June

The International Floriculture Expo in Chicago June 13-15 will feature Phil Lempert, the “Supermarket Guru,” as its lunch keynote speaker on June 13. In his presentation, “Flowers Make the Supermarket! A Look at the Changing Retail Environment and the Opportunities,” he will share insights on the need to expand floral merchandising and floor space in order to attract shoppers and also ways to sell management on the importance of floral.

With over 25 years of experience as an expert analyst on consumer behavior, marketing trends, new products and the changing retail landscape, Lempert has identified and explained impending trends to consumers and business leaders alike, according to a news release. His presentation will take a look at the importance of floriculture in today’s supermarket and c-store environments.

In addition to the full day of education sessions on June 13 covering topics such as “Creative Thinking: New Technology & Leading-Edge Innovations” led by Jacque Sir Louis from Smithers Oasis, Heidi Stachel, 3-D Virtual Designer, and Dione Baird from Albertsons Southern Division; “Cross-Merchandising: Green Acres is the Place to Be” with Robert DeBellis from World Class Flowers; “Problem Solving: Actionable Solutions to Tough Industry Problems,” a panel session including Terril Nell from the American Floral Endowment, J Scheanke from uBloom, Shawn C. McBurney, government relations at the Society of American Florists, and Kevin Prill from Ahold USA; and “Marketing Tactics: Maximizing Millennial Floral Purchasing” with Renato Soqueco from BloomNet, two bonus sessions have been added to the last day of the expo on June 15.

Max Duchane, digital strategy manager at the Society of American Florists, will show you how to build your social media following and increase engagement during his presentation, “Digital Strategies: Get ‘Rich’ or Die Tweeting.”

Plus, during his “Impact of Giving in the Floral Industry” presentation, Larsen Jay, founder and chief executive officer at Random Acts of Flowers, will explain how your company can get involved, reduce shrink, earn press opportunities and maybe even gain financial benefits in the process.
