17th World Floral Expo taking shape in Las Vegas

Las Vegas will be the host city for numerous international fresh flower growers at the 17th edition of the World Floral Expo March 22-24 in Pavilion 2 of the World Market Center. The majority of the exhibitors are from California, Alaska, Ecuador, Colombia, Peru, Ethiopia, Kenya, Canada and Holland, according to a news release.

“A big group of growers from California are exhibiting this year with the support of the umbrella organization, the California Association of Flower Growers & Shippers; the Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association is bringing flowers and growers from Ethiopia; and an especially large group of individual Ecuadorian-based flower producers will be exhibiting. Since Russian exports went down a couple of years ago, Ecuador switched from rose colors and varieties that are popular in Russia to those that are more popular in the U.S.,” read a message on the expo website.

Flower buyers will have the opportunity to see what’s new in the market, to meet with flower growers from many important flower-producing nations, and to place orders for the upcoming holidays. In addition, daily floral workshops will be offered, along with flower design shows by a Dutch design team, and floral industry expert J Schwanke will give a presentation on the latest trends in flowers.

“The number of registrations of visiting floral buyers is growing by the day and also several floral business groups have confirmed their attendance already,” read a statement on the World Floral Expo site. “International Floral Distributors is holding their spring owners meeting in Las Vegas in conjunction with the show and also several big groups of large retailers will fly to Las Vegas to attend the fair.”
