Kegel’s Produce celebrating 70th anniversary with open house

Kegel’s Produce is celebrating 70 years in business and will be hosting an open house Oct. 17 for its loyal customers and the community. Facility tours will be given throughout the day. Vendors will be on hand with displays, samples, product tastings and demonstrations.kege

Earl P. Kegel opened an Engleside building in 1948 and began distributing produce to stands at Lancaster Central Market and grocery stores. In 1967, the business moved and became Kegel’s Produce.

The current location, which opened in March of 2004, provides 105,000 square feet of refrigerated warehouse space. It is home to the Produce Playground, in-house fresh-cut processing rooms, banana ripening rooms and much more. Its many expansions have enabled the company to meet customer expectations and continue to ensure satisfaction for its partners in food safety.

Updated inventory control, routing and tracking systems accommodate timely deliveries and they continue to work with many local farms, while servicing regional and national customers.
