Sev-Rend celebrates 25th anniversary

In 1993 when Sev-Rend was founded in St. Louis by Robert (Bob) Williams Sr. and his son, Robert (Rob) Williams Jr., they had one in-line two-color printing press that was utilized to manufacture Strip Tags that were marketed solely to the produce industry.

As the company has grown so has Sev-Rend’s product portfolio. Soon it was offering a plethora of tags and labels, such as the widely known Wineglass Tag and the Clip-to-Clip Tag. As the product offering grew, so did its client base. Soon Sev-Rend was servicing other food-related industries. The company has also seen aggressive growth in the produce industry, which still serves as its core target market.

In 2008 Rob Williams Jr. invested in building a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility just across the river from St. Louis in Collinsville, IL. This new facility is a carefully controlled production environment where proven processes, select materials and the latest equipment and technology are utilized to its best ability. This commitment delivers consistently high quality, safe, sanitary finished products with one of the shortest lead times in the industry.

The move provided the elbow room that Rob Williams Jr. envisioned for Sev-Rend converting plastic into a broad range of food-grade packaging. The company’s SR-Film and Sof-Net were now part of Sev-Rend’s product portfolio and drove rapid growth in their core markets. It also gave life into expansion of new products into new territories with innovative approaches to roll stock film and pouches.

“Sev-Rend has been strategic in its expansion and new product development over the past several years. One thing that has been imperative to this growth is the focus on serving our customers. We have a solid foundation in innovation and customer intimacy built with the team here at Sev-Rend and this allows us to exceed customer expectations for products and service.”

Sev-Rend’s next 25 will see it building on Robert Williams Jr.’s vision of innovation and customer intimacy as it tackles the growing needs for product shelf life improvement, food safety and consumer satisfaction, as well as the need to reduce, reuse and recycle.
