NatureFresh growing and shipping greenhouse vegetables year-round

A leading greenhouse grower, marketer and shipper of high quality greenhouse produce, Leamington, ON-based NatureFresh Farms continues to grow and ship greenhouse vegetables year-round.

“NatureFresh Farms opened a 40,000-square-foot distribution center in the Toledo, OH area late last fall to help us fill the increase in demand for our greenhouse produce,” said Director of Marketing, Chris Veillon. “The facility will operate year-round to support our business on both sides of the border.”

He explained that currently the company’s Leamington facility is producing numerous types of branded tomatoes, including; OntarioRed tomatoes on the vine; OntarioRed red beefsteaks; OntarioRed Romas; TOMZ red grape; TOMZ red cherry, TOMZ mixed snacking; and TOMZ sweet red cocktail.

“NatureFresh is also producing red, yellow and orange Bell peppers in Leamington,” added Veillon. “Bell peppers continue to be one of our hottest commodities with more than 100 acres being grown in Canada.

The OntarioRed line is being sold throughout Ontario. The TOMZ brand continues to experience significant growth on both sides of the border.

The snacking tomato brand was named a finalist at the United Fresh Trade Show & Convention in Chicago. The TOMZ Snacking Tomato Program encompasses red, yellow and orange grape, red cherry, mixed snacking, mixed grape and sweet red cocktail. The TOMZ program is available year-round.

“NatureFresh Farms broke ground on a 106,000-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in Leamington earlier this spring,” Veillon pointed out. “Due to increased volumes and expansion of our growing facilities, we needed larger facilities to accommodate the increase in business.”

He explained that equipped with multi-climate regions, the facility will allow for a multitude of commodities to be packed and cooled prior to shipping. The facility is expected to be operational by July 1.

“NatureFresh Farms continues to invest in its infrastructure across all of its facilities with not only increase distribution capacity but also with implementation of new technologies,” stressed Veillon.

The company is once again touring eastern North America with its #GreenInTheCity Tour through mid-November. The tour promotes the mobile Greenhouse Education Center.

“The Tour reached 109 events in 2016, with even more events planned for 2017,” noted Veillon. “For additional details people are invited to visit”
