Farm Direct Supply diversifying and expanding

Diversification and expansion shape the focus of Farm Direct Supply in Fort Lauderdale, FL, as the company looks to increase the viability of the Peruvian source.

“The demand for our value-added and commodity programs has been excellent this year, in spite of the inherent challenges COVID-19 has presented,” said Chris Horrell, FDS general manager. “It has challenged us to build deeper, more meaningful supply chain partnerships that will be the cornerstone of our future.”

asparagusFDS continues to diversify its geographic footprint in Peru. “We want to create a more robust supply chain especially during the high-volume demand periods,” said Horrell. “Additionally, we are expanding our value-added offerings to strive for more ways to help our retail and foodservice partners provide value to their customers.”

Horrell noted that the company has made investments in facilities and staffing to improve its value-added operations and efficiencies. “We have had a number of exciting new hires this year in multiple areas including operations, sales and imports to keep the team growing,” he said.

Specifically, Eduardo Campos joined the company as director of operations. Carlos Salinas joined the company as quality assurance and operations manager and Mason Hamilton joined the company in senior account and commodity management.

Beyond developing different pack options and value-added SKUs, FDS partners with retailers on merchandising ideas and support in an effort to keep growing the asparagus category as much as possible.

“We are on an unending quest to find ways to increase demand for asparagus and to grow our customers sales to their end-users,” said Horrell.

In the future, the company will continue to invest in research, development and keeping the focus on innovation. “We are a solutions-focused, customer-driven business with a team that is unified and focused on delivering excellence in the asparagus category regardless of the origin or the pack-style,” said Horrell.
